Apart from this a few precautionary measures like not using too much pressure, not scratching irritating skin after shaving, to clean the razor properly will also help. While methodically it would be best to have your shaving after you take your bath and the skin is moist and soft with water and steam, it may not be to our liking since most of us like to take our bath after shaving. Therefore, you can take the alternative of lathering a shaving cream or gel on the skin to be shaved before shaving.
